Chicago-bred rapper Lil Durk is reportedly recovering after a week-long hospitalization. According to TMZ, Durk was treated for severe dehydration and exhaustion.
According to the outlet, the rapper reportedly became ill while in Ohio. Durk was then hospitalized on Thursday, July 6, as revealed by a close source.
The source added the rapper chose to go to the hospital “as a safety measure.” However, upon his arrival, Durk and his team were reportedly informed that the rapper’s physical ailments were “more serious than he and his team realized.”
Additionally, the source revealed that Durk was released from the hospital on Thursday.
TMZ reports that Durk’s hospitalization forced him to “miss a series of shows across Europe” and the ESPY Awards earlier this week. Additionally, the outlet adds that the musician has not yet been cleared by medical professionals to return to work “in any capacity.”
The outlet also shared an alleged statement from the rapper to his fans.
“My fans mean everything to me, you’re the reason why I do this…”
Durk continued by saying he was looking forward to “touching all of his European fans.” However, after “traveling daily,” he’s become extremely dehydrated and has been advised not to continue his travels due to his growing exhaustion.
“I was looking forward to touching all of my European fans, performing this week(end), attending the ESPYs and more but after performing and traveling daily I’ve become severely dehydrated and advised by my doctors not to travel due to exhaustion…”
However, once he can reclaim his “full energy,” Durk proclaimed, “it’s back to business.” Additionally, sharing that his return to work is something he’s enormously “looking forward to.”
“Once I get my full energy back, it’s back to business which I’m looking forward to. #StillHealing.”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Durk recently made headlines for his good deeds. Last month, he gifted an unhoused fan, Pedro, a paid hotel stay, a cell phone, and money.
The gesture was prompted by a video going viral of Pedro watching the rapper’s “All My Life” video inside his tent.
Additionally, the rapper even posted a video alongside the fan.
“So look, I got you a room for 30 days. Imma give you a couple dollars, imma give you a gift card and imma give you a phone for showing support… Here go the room key, you ain’t gotta say the room key out loud, a couple dollars, phone, gift cards, everything. Appreciate you.”
