Roommates, Apple Music and Rap Life visited the campus of Howard University and brought rappers Nas, Lil Baby, Rapsody, and Wale along for the first Rap Life LIVE.
The special live-stream captured on the campus will air on Friday September 18, at 7 pm PT only on Apple Music and aims to further extend the discussion around the many important issues impacting the Black community such as police reform, racial and gender equality, social justice, and standing up to racism through music and conversation.
When asked why they wanted to participate each artist chimed in to express why this event was important and why they are eager to participate.
Lil Baby said, “I feel like we got a long way to go… I’d be lying if I said we are getting there. Don’t get me wrong it’s a start, but it’s going to take some time for this to work out.”
Nas said, “Whatever is going on in society, affects people. People affect society. And People are going to speak and artists are going to make art.”
Wale said, “Black people need to understand and hear each other, combine our messaging and give it to the world.”
