LeToya Luckett Shares Her Testimony As She Talks About Pursuing Her Purpose After Destiny’s Child—She Recalls The Time She Slept In A Car While Making Her First Album

Recently LeToya Luckett, who is expecting her second child any day now, took to her Instagram Live and answered some questions from her supporters. One fan asked her about pursuing her purpose after she was no longer a part of the singing group Destiny’s Child, and she shared her journey and revealed some of the struggles she faced along the way.

As many of you know, LeToya was one of the founding members of Destiny’s Child from 1993-2000. However, she got candid with one fan as she opened up about walking in her purpose after parting ways with the group. While on live, the fan said to LeToya, “How did you continue pursuing your purpose even after the disappointment of DC.”

LeToya responded, “After DC, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Of course around that time I was about 18-years-old. So I hadn’t lived my life as a normal teenager, I hadn’t gone to college, I hadn’t done all of the normal things that a teenager would do. All I knew was DC, all I knew was the group at that time. Even coming out of that I wasn’t always the secure person because I had been so used to having a team mentality to think being a solo anything, going out on my own was very very scary.”

She continued to give credit to God for pushing her forward and making her take the risks in life she was scared to do.

LeToya continued, “I literally had to get out of my own way and allow God to step in and do what he needed to do in my life.”

LeToya also reflected on a moment of struggle where she found herself living in a hotel, and even sleeping in a car some nights as she worked on her debut album.

“I slept in a car in LA while I was making my first album. Not a lot of nights, but a few. Water jugs, a gallon of water when I was staying in hotels, couldn’t really afford anything else so I was like drinking a gallon of water and buying the microwavable “Oodles and Noodles,” and I was like cooking them on the coffee pot in the hotel,” she said.
