LeBron James didn’t have an ordinary life like most kids. If you remember Lebron went straight out of High school into the NBA and didn’t get the opportunity to go to college. Well it looks like now that LeBron has a couple rings to his name he’s ready to add that college diploma to his list of accomplishments.
According to Complex, Lebron plans on attending college, when he’s free, which probably means when he retires from the NBA.
“I’m signed up at the University of Akron for whenever I’m able to get a little bit of down time,” LeBron said, according to Ohio.com. “That’s always been a conversation that took place to take some college courses, take some classes. So right now I just do a lot of reading, book reading, and obviously I’m around some really good people that I kind of take their knowledge and sort it into my mind.”
Perhaps LeBron’s motivation stems from his organization, Lebron James Family Foundation, which has already locked in scholarships at the University of Akron for all students who complete his I Promise Institute. It’s an amazing program and there are currently 1,000 students enrolled.
“We’re putting these kids in college and getting them education, but also the success rate of graduating college is very low as well even once you get to college,” LeBron said. “We wanted to figure out a way where we could help these kids graduate college and that’s where the institute came from… Just trying to make a difference.”
Get that education Lebron and keep on helping others be able to get as well!
