When it comes to bettering the Akron, OH community, there is nothing that NBA legend LeBron James won’t do. Through his ‘Lebron James Family Foundation’ (LJFF), he has revitalized Akron in several ways. In 2018 he opened, ‘I Promise School,’ and currently, they have more than 450 students enrolled in grades 3rd through 6th. Attendees of the school and their families can receive access to various services outside the classroom, including medical care and mental health support.
Not just that, high school students who graduate will receive free tuition from attending the University of Akron or Kent State University. Today LeBron announced that LJFF is opening a 60,000-square-foot venue called ‘House Three Thirty.’ It will offer various services and opportunities, such as financial-literacy advice, job training, and recreational activities for area youth, according to Time.
LJFF says there will be other amenities at House Three Thirty. The community will enjoy a dining space, a coffee bar, and a private card room. Lebron said, “House 330 is going to be a sanctuary for our families. It’s going to be a place where all our families can grow and learn. This will be a hub for everything possible our families will need.”
According to LJFF, the facility should be fully up and running in 2022. That’s not all that LJFF has in the pipeline. Today they also shared on Instagram that ‘I PROMISE Housing’ and nonprofit East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation (EANDC) will help assist 50 families with homes and have the opportunity to own the homes. EANDC’s mission is to provide quality housing, help families buy/rent homes, budget their income, and encourage our neighbors to be active in the community.
This is amazing and will transform so many lives in Akron! Go head, Lebron!
