Lauryn Hill and The Fugees have reportedly canceled their 2024 U.S. tour three days before its scheduled kick-off.
Editor’s Note: This article was updated on August 8 to reflect a statement released by Lauryn Hill in reaction to reports of the group’s canceled U.S. tour.
According to Variety, the group’s tour was “quietly” canceled on Tuesday, August 6. The outlet reports that the tour was set to kick off in Tampa, Florida, on Friday, August 9. It included 18 tour stops across the country.
Additionally, the group’s show dates were reportedly removed from Ticketmaster. Those who purchased tickets reportedly received notices about the tour’s cancellation late that Tuesday.
Furthermore, ticketholders were offered refunds.
“Your event has been canceled. A refund will be on its way to your account soon,” read the notice reportedly received by ticketholders.
Meanwhile, the reason behind the tour’s cancelation reportedly remains unclear. Variety has reportedly contacted representatives for Hill and Live Nation. However, a comment has yet to be received.
Despite the nationwide cancelations, Variety reports that overseas tickets for Hill and The Fugees’ tour remain on sale. Per the outlet, the overseas leg of the tour kicks off in October.
The outlet reports that the group’s most recent cancellation is the “third year in a row” Hill and The Fugees “have canceled some or all of their tour dates.” Furthermore, social media users have reacted to the ordeal in The Shade Room’s comment section.
Instagram user @theroycemorgan wrote, “No matter how I think we grow, you always seem to let me know… it ain’t workinnnnnn”
While Instagram user @mikeewinfield added, “I’m about to snap their cassette tape in half”
While Instagram user @itsbrooklynjones added, “Hellen Keller coulda seen this coming 😭”
Last year, I faced an injury that necessitated the rescheduling of some of my shows. Regrettably, some media outlet’s penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American portion of the tour,” Hill alleged.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Hill went viral after she shared a strong message for fans during a concert in November 2023. At the time, Hill reiterated the public’s concern about her being “late” to shows.
“They hate that she’s late,” she told her crowd. “‘She’s late…’ Yo, y’all are lucky that I make it on this… stage every night!”
