Recently Lamar Odom announced that his memoir “Darkness to Light,” is scheduled to release later this month. Now I’m sure you guys already expected Lamar to touch on his marriage to Khloe Kardashian.
People obtained an exclusive excerpt from the memoir and also spoke with Lamar in an exclusive interview, where he detailed that time period of his life. He said to the magazine, “I wish I could have been more of a man. It still bothers me to this day. But regret is something we have to learn to live with.”
Although he spoke about some of the dark times they experienced, he also spoke about the good times they experienced together. In the book, he writes, “For a while, being with her was bliss and I was the happiest I’ve ever been. We were one of the most famous couples in Hollywood and we made more money together than we had individually.”
However, Lamar’s sex and drug addiction caused things to take a turn for the worse.
He continued to write, “I could not handle the lethal cocktail of the spotlight, addiction, a diminishing career, and infidelity. Oh, did I mention the paranoia, anxiety, depression…I couldn’t keep my d— in my pants or the coke out of my nose. Drug addicts are incredibly skilled at hiding their habit. I’d get defensive and Khloé would just drop it.”
As many of you know, the former couple eventually separated once Khloe learned about Lamar’s infidelity. However, she never completely turned her back on him when he needed her most.
In 2015, he hospitalized for an overdose, and Khloe was right by his side.
Lamar said to People, “I remember waking up and her showing me pictures of my mother. I was surprised on how quick she was to show her devotion to me.”
He continued, “Her love for me must have been unconditional. That’s the only thing [I think] that gave her the strength to still love me at that time.”
Although Lamar and Khloe have been officially divorced for three years, Lamar is still hoping they can one day obtain a friendship. “I hope we can be friends. I miss the family. And I hope we can all be reacquainted one day.”
Lamar’s memoir “Darkness to Light,” releases on May 28th.
