Bobby Shmurda’s rise to fame came quick when his catchy dance to “Hot N*gga” caught the attention of many people around the world. However, Bobby didn’t get to enjoy the luxury of his success for long before being put behind bars on drug and weapon charges.
Many people have being firing shots at Epic Records’ CEO, L.A. Reid, for not bonding Bobby out of jail. Some people, including Bobby’s lawyer, expressed that L.A. Reid capitalized and exploited Bobby Shmurda for his own personal gain.
L.A. Reid says it’s not like that and that he just doesn’t have the funds to get Bobby out; he stated, “We seriously don’t make the money we used to make. It’s a different era, ya know? And, we’re a publicly held corporation. We just aren’t in the same position we were in back in those days. So, it’s a different day.”
Bobby is not really buying it; He told the New York Times, “When I got locked up, I thought they were going to come for me, but they never came.” Despite the criticism, L.A. Reid still insists that he does genuinely care about Bobby. “I’m crazy about that kid and I think about him often. And I feel like, ya know, his better days are ahead of him. I do believe that.”
Bobby Shmurda has been denied bail three times and is now awaiting his trial, which is scheduled for February 22, 2016.
