Kobe Bryant Day Set For August 24th In Orange County

As we all know 2020 has been a crazy year thus far, and one of the most shocking things that have happened is the unfortunate passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and the other 7 beautiful souls.

Nonetheless, Orange County is making sure that they honor Kobe in the right way, and recently the Orange County Board of Supervisors voted to officially make August 24th (8/24) Kobe Bryant Day.

According to TMZ, the voting process took place on Tuesday and the proposal was passed without any hesitation. The resolution stated, “During his career, Kobe Bryant’s numbers on his jerseys were 8 and 24, therefore a fitting day to celebrate his legacy would be August 24.”

As you all know during his 20-year career with the Lakers, he lived in Orange County and even after his retirement. It’s also worth noting that Kobe’s birthday is August 23rd, so having Kobe Bryant Day on August 24th (8/24) makes it more significant.

The resolution continued to state, “Kobe Bryant was a basketball legend that inspired so many globally to pursue their dreams and taught us that hard work truly pays off.”

Officials even listed out ways fans could celebrate Kobe Bryant Day and said, “By engaging in community building, helping young people in need, encouraging aspiring youth to follow their dreams, and living by Bryant’s words: ‘The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they could be great in whatever they want to do.”

Throughout the year there have been many tributes across all fields that have paid tribute Kobe Bryant and his legacy.
