It looks like Kid Cudi and “Black-ish,” creator Kenya Barris has a new project coming our way, and it will be a part of the new overall deal that Kenya landed with Netflix last year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Cudi and Kenya are teaming up for an adult-focused animated music series, which will be based on Cudi’s forthcoming album, “Entergalatic.” Aside from showcasing Cudi’s new music, the series will reportedly center around a young man as he embarks on his journey to find love. Both Cudi and Kenya will write, executive produce and star in the series.
The series will also be the first under Kenya’s Khalabo Ink Society banner. This is the third show that Kenya has set up over at Netflix within the past year. As we previously reported, last year Kenya signed a $100 million deal with the streaming service leading him to depart ways with ABC Studios, which is the currently the parent company to his show “Black-ish.”
However, he still continues to serve as producer of the show as well as it’s different spin-off shows, “Grown-ish,” on Freeform, and the new show “Mixed-ish,” which will also be coming to ABC.
Last year, when Kenya landed the deal with the streaming service he said, “When my agents reached out to me about this little garage start-up called Netflix, I wasn’t sure what to think. But after I talked to Ted and Cindy, I started to believe that maybe this mom-and-pop shop with only 130 million subscribers might just be something… so I decided to take a swing… a leap of faith if you will, and take a chance with the new kids on the block.”
Roommates, are you looking forward to this new series from Kid Cudi and Kenya Barris?
