KFC Suspends Its “Finger Lickin’ Good” Slogan Due To COVID-19—Company Says “It Doesn’t Feel Quite Right”

#Roommates, popular fast food chicken chain KFC has decided to make a very significant change to its brand after 64 years. In response to the concerns surrounding COVID-19, KFC has officially decided to suspend it long-running slogan, “finger lickin’ good.”

@CNN reports, KFC is attempting to do its part in the ongoing fight against COVID-19 by suspending its company slogan. KFC has used the popular slogan “finger lickin’ good” for the past 64 years—but that has now come to an end. KFC doesn’t believe that encouraging customers to lick their fingers while eating is the best thing to do, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to occur worldwide.

The decision comes several months after health officials recommended everyone stop touching their faces to help stop the spread of COVID-19. In a statement earlier this week,  KFC that the slogan “doesn’t feel quite right.” KFC Global Chief Marketing Officer Catherine Tan-Gillespie, said “We find ourselves in a unique situation — having an iconic slogan that doesn’t quite fit in the current environment.”

However, the company noted that the KFC menu will remain the same and that the slogan will return when the “time is right.” Back in March, the company temporarily closed down its dining rooms and encouraged customers to order via its drive-thrus or delivery. Plexiglas was also installed on counter-top shields between employees and customers, required workers to wear masks and implemented health screenings before shifts.

KFC did not specify an exact date for when the slogan will return.
