Kendrick Lamar Releases The Short Film For His Track ‘We Cry Together’

Five months after the release of his latest album, ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers,’ Kendrick Lamar has finally released the visuals for the fan-favorite track from the project, ‘We Cry Together.’ Co-starring actress Taylour Paige, Kendrick Lamar delivered a short film for the piece that embodies its passionate dialogue.

Shortly after ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’ was released, Taylour Paige revealed that there was a short film to go alongside ‘We Cry Together’ and back in June it was exclusively screened in Los Angles for fellow celebs and industry insiders.  Kendrick Lamar fans have been waiting on the edge of their seats ever since, anticipating when the official visuals would be released to the general public.

In the short film, both Kendrick and Taylour visually act out the aggression and hostility of the track that was previously something fans could only imagine while initially listening to it on the album. Within minutes of the film dropping, it was a top trending topic on social media, sparking intense debate.

Although Kendrick Lamar just released ‘We Cry Together’ this year, the short film for the track was actually recorded live on March 15, 2020—which was at the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was directed by Dave Free, a co-founder of pgLang with Kendrick, alongside Jake Schreier.

In other Kendrick news, he was previously one of the artists with the most nominations at this year’s MTV VMAs.
