Now that Thanksgiving is officially over, everyone is settling into the holiday spirit as Christmas approaches.
Kelly Rowland made a visit to the popular YouTube show, “Good Mythical Morning,” with Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal, to promote her new Lifetime film “Merry Liddle Christmas.” While on the show Kelly and the guys put their own special twist to some classic Christmas carols as they turned them into pop songs.
Now we all know Kelly is a member of the legendary girl group Destiny’s Child, so it’s no surprise that they picked one of their hit songs for Kelly to turn into a Christmas Carol.
Kelly was all smiles as she turned flipped “Jingle Bells,” by singing it to the “Say My Name,” melody.
Interestingly enough, Destiny’s Child also has a few Christmas classics of their own. Back in 2001, they dropped their Christmas album “8 Days of Christmas,” with the self-titled lead single.
Other Christmas songs that were covered during her visit to “Good Mythical Morning,” was “O Holy Night,” which was flipped and sung with the melody from Ed Sheeran’s song “Perfect,” among a few others.
During a recent interview on Essence Magazine’s “Yes Girl” podcast, Kelly revealed that her new film “Merry Liddle Christmas,” was actually inspired by true-life events.
She said, “We had the family in town two years ago, [and invited them] into our new home for Christmas. I was like, ‘It’s going to be so special if we have our family come in.’ My husband’s like, ‘No, it’s not.’ He’s like, ‘Let’s just wait, have them here the next year.’ I was like, ‘No, I want to do it.’ He’s like, ‘Nope, not a good idea. I have them anyway.”
