Kelly Ripa denied rumors that she almost died while having sex with her husband while at Jimmy Buffett’s house on Wednesday, stemming from a misunderstanding that landed her in the hospital after a romantic rendezvous.
The “Live With Kelly and Ryan” co-host fired back at the accusations, which emerged after she passed out while having sex with her husband, Mark Consuelos, at the “Margaritaville” singer’s home, according to the New York Post.
In her forthcoming book, the 51-year-old said she woke up in the hospital with two ovarian cysts after coming to following the impassioned interlude.
“No, I did not almost die having sex at Jimmy Buffett’s house,” the 51-year-old host said.
Reps for Ripa declined to comment to The Post.
In her book, “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories,” which is set to hit bookstores on September 27, Ripa tells a story that takes place six months after the birth of her first child back in 1997, when she and her husband were enjoying a little early-morning sex.
She then reportedly lost consciousness due to the two large cysts growing on her ovaries, the outlet reports.
The former “All My Children” star writes that “sex can be so traumatic I think, and yet one of us (her husband) is completely undaunted.”
“Sex can be so traumatic I think, and yet one of us is completely undaunted,” Ripa writes. “There he is, happily munching on the saltines now and ordering a second apple juice. Mark could be at a movie, or a spa. Instead, I’m flat on my back wondering when the other two cysts will burst.”
While Ripa said that she did end up in the hospital following sex with her husband, she added Wednesday that she wasn’t sure how how the story ended up at Jimmy Buffett’s house, nor how the situation escalated to life and death.
“I’m talking to the outlet that printed this specifically,” Ripa said. “If you’re not going to bother to read the book and you’re going to read an article about the book, then at least read the [right] article.”
Her co-host, Ryan Seacrest, said the story was a good one despite its lack of veracity as he healed from a knee injury.
“But what a great story,” joked Seacrest. “My knee was instantly healed!”
While Ripa agreed it was “an incredible story and said she wished it were true, ” but “it’s just not,” she said.
