Whew! Beyoncé’s new album isn’t even here yet but it’s already shaking the table! Bey recently released a list of artists who will be sampled on ‘Renaissance,’ and it looks like Kelis isn’t here for it. Apparently, Kelis is being sampled on a track called ‘Energy,’ and claims she wasn’t notified about it.
An Instagram fan page posted about the sample, to which the ‘Milkshake’ singer replied with a message about disrespect.
My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding. I heard about this the same way everyone else did. Nothing is ever as it seems, some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled.”
While Kelis didn’t directly name Beyoncé in the comment, it seems like she’s calling out the artist, and the producers involved in the project, for not making her aware of the sample.
As the comment started making its rounds on social media, users on Black Twitter started sharing their opinions on the topic! While some fans were confused about Kelis’ anger, others stood by her.
