Kel Mitchell has released a statement following the news of his recent hospitalization. According to TMZ, the 45-year-old was admitted to a “Los Angeles-area hospital” on Tuesday night.
According to the outlet, Mitchell arrived at the undisclosed hospital “through the emergency room.” A witness reportedly informed the outlet that the actor “appeared to be conscious and alert” at the time.
TMZ adds that the cause of Mitchell’s hospitalization remains unclear. However, the outlet was able to confirm that the actor remained at the facility through Wednesday, receiving treatment.
Early Thursday, Mitchell took to Instagram to address reports of his hospitalization and share an update with fans regarding his condition. The 45-year-old explained that he is “grateful for the flood of prayers and positive vibes that surrounded” him.
Additionally, he explained that his “scare was real.” However, “so was the support.”
Mitchell went on to tell fans that by the “grace of God and the skill of the medical team,” he is now recovering at home.
Before concluding his statement, the father of four thanked supporters for their “kindness,” which he called a “lifeline.”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Mitchell’s relationships with his ex-wife and daughter took a spotlight in December 2022. At the time, his eldest daughter, Allure, whom he shares with his ex-wife Tyisha Hampton, bashed Mitchell for allegedly being an absent father.
Additionally, Allure alleged that Mitchell told her he “didn’t have time” for her due to his acting career.
However, in January, court documents surfaced which alleged the actor made multiple attempts to reconnect with Allure and his and Tyisha’s eldest son, Lyric.
In February, it was reported that Hampton was seeking over $1 million from the actor despite a court ruling his child support was “paid in full.” To date, it remains unclear whether Hampton and Mitchell’s case has been settled.
Furthermore, we should note that the 45-year-old has moved forward since his divorce from Hampton in 2005. Mitchell has remarried a woman named Asia-Lee, and the pair now share two children, Wisdom and Honor.
On the career front, Mitchell is reportedly gearing up to release the sequel of his 1997 breakout film, ‘Good Burger,’ also starring fellow ‘All That’ actor and his longtime friend, Kenan Thompson, per TMZ.
