Baby, THIS is Keke Palmer! The actress broke her silence after Twitter users compared her career to Zendaya’s while mentioning colorism. A tweet sent out on Saturday sparked the conversation comparing the two actresses, claiming their careers “may be one of the clearest examples of how colorism plays out in Hollywood.”
The discourse bubbled online for nearly a whole day, splitting fans of the two actresses down the middle. On Sunday Keke responded, clearing the room. The ‘NOPE’ star addressed everything, writing:
“A great example of colorism is to believe I can be compared to anyone. I’m the youngest talk show host ever. She was the first Black woman to star in her own show on Nickelodeon & the youngest & first Black Cinderella on broadway. I’m an incomparable talent. Baby, THIS is Keke Palmer.”
The Emmy winning actress continued, running down her career accolades.
“I’ve been a leading lady since I was 11 years old. I have over 100+ credits and currently starring in an original screenplay that’s the number one film at the box office #NOPE. I’ve had a blessed career thus far. I couldn’t ask for more, but God continues to surprise me.”
The 28-year-old actress has been on the move as she promotes the new film. Recently she was featured in the UK version of Vogue, rocking an afro and looking gorgeous.
Roommates, what do you think about Keke’s comments?
