Keke Palmer has scored a major gig as the host of the upcoming 2023 Soul Train Awards. The announcement was publicly shared on Wednesday, November 15, by BET.
According to the outlet, the show will be taped in Los Angeles, California, and air on Sunday, November 26 at 8 p.m. Additionally, the event aims to reimagine “the traditional award show ceremony as an intimate, unforgettable night celebrating the best in soul music and the iconic legacy brand.”
Keke Palmer will host and perform during the event alongside artists such as Coco Jones, Fridayy, Muni Long, and SWV.
Connie Orlando, the EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET Networks, detailed the company’s decision to highlight Palmer as the award’s emcee.
“Keke Palmer is a globally recognized multihyphenate talent who embodies confidence and positivity and is one of the most engaging and lovable personalities working in entertainment today. We can’t wait to have her host the Soul Train Awards house party.”
Additionally, Orlando noted that BET “gave Keke her first talk show.” To note, Palmer’s talk show was called ‘Just Keke,’ where she discussed “topical issues, pop culture and entertainment,” per IMDb.
“BET gave Keke her first talk show, where she made history as the youngest talk show host in television, and today we are honored to have her back on the ‘Soul Train Awards’ stage,” Orlando continued. “As always, expect our star-studded slate of soulful artists and can’t-miss moments to illuminate your screens for a night dedicated to soul music.”

The announcement of Palmer’s latest hosting gig follows recent allegations of abuse from the star against the father of her seventh-month-old son. Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Palmer was granted custody of the infant, along with a temporary restraining order against Darius Daulton Jackson.
At the time, Palmer alleged that Jackson exhibited physical, mental, and emotional abuse against her. Additionally, stills surfaced from Palmer’s in-house surveillance footage showing an alleged altercation between her and Jackson.
Since then, Palmer’s mother has weighed in on the allegations, defending her daughter, while Jackson’s brother shared contrary views, per The Shade Room.
Most recently, Darius Daulton Jackson has reportedly denied Palmer’s abuse allegations.
