Katy Perry received an award from the Human Rights Campaign on Saturday in Los Angeles and opened up about her sexuality and thanked the #LGBT community.
In her speech, Katy talked about growing up in a very religious family and says she was curious about her sexuality but knew that it wasn’t something that would be accepted with open arms.
Katy said she “prayed the gay away at Christian camps but then in the middle of it all, in a twist of events, she found her gift and that gift introduced her to people outside of her bubble.”
She admits that without the LGBT community she wouldn’t be the woman that she is today.
