Katt Williams has responded to Nicki Minaj’s request for him to join her on her ‘Pink Friday 2’ tour. As The Shade Room previously reported, the tour kicked off on Friday, March 1.
According to REVOLT, Williams’ ‘Dark Matter’ tour stop in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday, March 3. Afterward, footage of the 52-year-old responding to Minaj’s request surfaced on social media
“Nicki Minaj said she wanted me on her tour, and she told so many people, a million people hit my phone at the same time. It scared me and Jesus. He shut all of AT&T down so my phone could cool off on the charger,” he joked.
In the clip, the audience could be heard erupting in laughter.
To note, Williams appeared to be referring to the nationwide AT&T outage on February 22. The outage reportedly impacted over 72,000 customers, leaving them without cellular service from about 4 a.m. to around 1 p.m., per The Shade Room.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Minaj initially shared her request for Williams on February 20. At the time, the rapper was live streaming with her fans on Instagram Live.
“Now, I know that this is the busiest man in show business, okay? I know that he’s rich, and I know that he’s the funniest man in show biz,” she said. “Can y’all hit up Katt Williams and ask him what would be his price to be a part of the ‘Pink Friday 2/Gag City’ tour?”
A few days later, ‘Breakfast Club’ co-host Jess Hilarious shared why she believes Minaj requested the comedian, as previously reported by The Shade Room.
“When the f**k did Nicki and Katt Williams even have a f**ing relationship? To put him on your tour?” she reportedly said during an episode of ‘Jess With The Mess: Uncut.’
Additionally, Hilarious seemingly implied that Minaj’s request to Williams was due to her tour having low ticket sales.
“It’s totally expected to not sell out your f*****g tour. No icon, no matter how big or small, is exempt from promotion,” she added.
To date, Nicki Minaj has yet to respond to Jess Hilarious’ comments publicly. Furthermore, Minaj has yet to weigh in with her thoughts on Katt Williams’s recent joke.
As The Shade Room previously reported, it remains unlikely that Williams will be able to join Minaj on the North American leg of her tour due to their simultaneous dates on the road.
