Roommates, as the endless tributes continue to pour in for NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna following their heartbreaking deaths following a sudden helicopter crash, celebrities are also sending out their own thoughts, prayers and tributes. Long-time Kobe fan, Kanye West, recently held a special version of his Sunday Service session in honor of Kobe’s memory.
Kanye West and Kobe Bryant had a friendship that dates back several years, so it was no surprise that Ye recently held a midnight edition of his Sunday Service as a special tribute to him. Although, Kanye wasn’t the only one to participate in the tribute, as frequent guests Kirk Franklin and Chance The Rapper also performed some selections.
Kirk Franklin led an emotional prayer before his performance and Chance The Rapper got so emotional during his verse on Kanye’s “Ultralight Beam” that he had to take breaks and collect himself so that he could finish. Kanye even freestyled a special verse for Kobe’s memory and he was also noticeably choked up.
Earlier, before the Sunday Service performance, Kanye tweeted this about Kobe:
“Kobe, we love you brother. We’re praying for your family and appreciate the life you’ve lived and all the inspiration you gave.”
Of course, Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian was in attendance to capture video of the performance and she posted her own tribute to Kobe on Instagram:
“My heart is so heavy. No one should ever experience what the families involved are going through. This has affected us all so much but I cannot begin to imagine what Vanessa is feeling losing her husband and her baby girl. I cry just thinking about it. I am praying for the Bryant family, the Altobelli family and the families of all who perished in this unthinkable tragedy. Rest In Peace Legend.”
We want to continue to send our thoughts and prayers to Kobe’s family during this extremely difficult time.
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
