#Roommates, there’s no secret that Kanye set has been in the news a lot lately, but this time it’s for something I think we can all agree is pretty cool. According to @ChicagoTribune, Ye has made a pretty generous donation to the campaign of #AmaraEnyia to the tune of $73,540.00!
If you’re not familiar with Amara, she’s been publicly back by another famous Chicago native in #ChanceTheRapper as she sets her sights on becoming the next Mayor of Chicago.
Before Chance came forward and publicly endorsed Amara, she was reportedly facing thousands of dollars in fines from the Illinois State Board of Elections. Apparently, Amara was told in order for her to run for Mayor she would have to have $73,540 fine debt paid in full by December 20th. Coincidentally that is the exact number Kanye donated to her campaign.
Thankfully now that her fines are paid for Amara can move forward with her Mayoral process. In a statement released by Amara’s campaign thanked Kanye West for his generosity, saying: “The Amara Enyia campaign thanks Chicago native, Kanye West, for his generous action,” the statement read. “Amara’s campaign is energizing people around the city with bold ideas and solutions that move Chicago forward. We are excited to engage people of all walks of life as we focus our efforts on getting on the ballot.”
Kanye has been very open about his political views, especially with his relationship with current President #DonaldTrump. Most recently he visited the White House to express his admiration for Trump. Though Amara is only running for Mayor of Chicago, it seems Kanye is trying to make a change in his community and may be the start of even greater changes to the Chicago area. Regardless of the latest news, this is a good look for Ye!
