Kanye West held his Sunday Service for an exclusive group today in Texas, and I’m not mad at him.
Ye brought his soulful sounds to a group of prisoners in Texas, just a few days before he will bring his choir to Joel Osteen’s church in Houston this Sunday. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Kanye came through with his choir to the Harris County Jail in H-Town Friday morning to put on a show. Ye had it all planned out.
He apparently reached out to the jail Wednesday to set the whole thang up and given the jail’s very popular religious program, it proved to be a real treat for the inmates.
Kanye and his group of 100 choir and band members put on two separate shows — one for male inmates and one for the female inmates. Each crowd was a few hundred people.
It’s great to see Ye outreach to those in the system, which is definitely in line with his wife Kim Kardashian’s interests of criminal justice reform.
Kanye will be in Houston for a few days thanks to his highly anticipated show at Lakewood Church.
Kanye and his Sunday Service choir will perform during Osteen’s Sunday nighttime service, while he and Osteen take to the pulpit and talk in the morning. Reportedly, Kanye and Osteen have been talking quite frequently and became friends, which is due to Ye’s renewed devotion to God and Christianity.
The service is scheduled to go this way: Kanye will arrive at Osteen’s Lakewood Church for the 11 a.m. service, where he will reportedly go up to the pulpit and have a conversation with Osteen that is set to last between 20 and 30 minutes. Osteen wants his 45,000-member congregation and 10 million TV viewing audience, to hear how Kanye has overcome adversity in his life to become the success he is today.
Although not currently scheduled, Osteen has other services in the day, so it’s possible that Kanye and his choir could stick around for more performances. The entire service will be broadcast live exclusively on SiriusXM.
