Back in September, it was revealed that Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker were expecting their second child together. However, this time around they enlisted the help of a surrogate as they expand their family. Last night was the premiere of the latest season of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and Kandi shared some details regarding her surrogate’s pregnancy.
According to People, Kandi revealed that her surrogate had been carrying twins, but unfortunately she lost one. She said, “We actually was supposed to be having twins, and then one of them didn’t continue. I was sad at first, but then I just had to be grateful that the one made it.”
Kandi continued to talk about how different the surrogate process has been for her and said, “I just feel like this whole situation is strange. I don’t get to be excited about the first kick. I don’t get to be excited about, ‘Oh now my baby bump is showing.’ I don’t get to be excited even about my boobs filling up with milk.”
She added, “You have this guilt [and] sadness, so it’s a joyous, yet interesting experience.”
After having a high risk-pregnancy with her son Ace, and also a history of fibroids, Kandi started to explore the option of having a surrogate, and during the 11th season of RHOA, viewers were able to see Kandi and Todd discuss the option of having a surrogate for their next child.
Last year, during an interview with Us Weekly, Kandi talked about the option and also revealed that she had two embryos left after going through the IVF process during her last pregnancy. The last two embryos were girls. She said, “We have two embryos that are still left from when we had Ace. So, we have two embryos left and we know they’re girls.”
According to People, Kandi and Todd’s surrogate, Shadina is due next month.
