Kandi Burruss is sharing her reaction after Bravo TV unveiled the new cast of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta.’
According to E! News, Burruss spoke exclusively with the outlet while appearing at the 90th Annual Drama League Awards on Friday, May 17. Burruss explained that she was excited that the public is now officially aware of Shamea Morton joining the cast.
“I’m excited,” she explained. “I’m excited for Shamea, who is our friend. I’m glad it’s announced, so I don’t have to keep secrets anymore.
Additionally, Burruss spoke on Porsha Williams making her return to the reality series.
“I already knew she was going back before she announced it,” Burruss explained.
The 48-year-old explained that she and Williams discussed their respective decision with the show. At the time, Burruss explained that she was unsure of returning while Williams was “thinking she might go back.”
“I already knew she was going back before she announced it,” Burruss said. “We both had talked about our decisions, [and] what we were thinking about doing. I was telling her I didn’t know if I was going to go back. She was telling me how she was thinking she might go back, so we knew. I am excited for her.”
According to E! News, Morton and Williams will be joined by “newbies” to the show, Brittany Eady, Kelli Ferrell, and Angela Oakley. In addition, familiar faces Kenya Moore and Drew Sidora will make their return as Cynthia Bailey will reportedly appear as a “friend of.”
During the conversation, Burruss revealed that despite her no longer being a ‘RHOA’ peach, she’ll still be tuned into the show. However, she also shared some things she won’t miss now that she’s on the outskirts of production.
“I’m not necessarily gonna miss that stress,” she said. “They started filming this week. I was talking to one of them — I can’t say who it was — but she was like, ‘Girl, it’s just a lot.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I don’t know if I missed that part.’ I forgot about that first stress of getting the ball rolling when you’re meeting new people.”
Burruss also dished on what she will miss about being part of ‘RHOA.’
“You don’t necessarily miss the stress or the work, but you miss the camaraderie part,” she said. “And knowing that you are part of something great. Because at the end of the day, no matter how much drama it was, my 14 seasons on that franchise [had] a lot of great things came from it.”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Burruss revealed her decision not to return to the reality show in February. At the time, she explained that she “started working on a lot of other things” and had some “nice big projects coming soon.”
Burruss, however, wasn’t the only one who gave in her resignation letter. A few weeks later, Marlo Hampton revealed her departure from the show, calling it a “fresh start,” per The Shade Room.
According to E! News, Sanya Richards-Ross and Shereé Whitfield have also exited the show.
