Kandi Burruss Gets Emotional As She Talks About Having To Talk To Her 4-Year-Old Son About Police Brutality

Kandi Burruss joined Andy Cohen for a virtual episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” and during the episode, which also featured Tamron Hall, they talked about the current climate of the world and Andy asked Kandi to talk about the dialogue she has with her children during this time.

Kandi explained how her eldest child Riley has been using the current state of the world to determine who is really an ally within her group of friends. However, Kandi recently had to explain to her 4-year-old son Ace the current climate of things when it comes to the police.

She said, “He was a policeman on Career Day. So when my husband, Todd, was trying to explain to him what was going on and why everybody was so upset and what was happening with the police. Ace was confused. He was like, ‘So, the police are the bad guys?'”

“Now isn’t that crazy to have to explain that to a 4-year-old. For you to be black and have to worry about the police being the bad guys. That’s an emotional thing for me,” said Kandi.

An emotional Kandi mentioned to Andy that she understands that he cares about her and family, but having to explain police brutality to his child is something he doesn’t have to think about.

As many of you know, protests have erupted across the world in response to the death of George Floyd, who was killed by police on video in Minneapolis. People have been protesting for justice to be served in George Floyd’s case, and they’ve also been protesting against the police brutality that many people have unfortunately experienced.
