New Updates On Justin Timberlake’s DWI Arrest

It looks like Justin Timberlake will be seated for a while. A New York judge ruled to suspend his license during his DWI hearing on August 2.

PEOPLE reports that Timberlake pleaded not guilty to a revised misdemeanor charge of drunk driving during a virtual court appearance from Antwerp, Belgium, on August 2.

Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace revoked Justin’s driving privileges in New York, though the duration of the suspension remains unclear.

After the hearing, Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., told reporters that a standard suspension is included in every DUI case.

The next hearing is set for August 9, and depending on the outcome of the upcoming Friday session, the tentative court date is September 13.

Timberlake’s Lawyer Shares New Perspective In DWI Case

PEOPLE reports that during a Friday (July 26) hearing, JT’s lawyer argued that he was ” not intoxicated.”

“He was not intoxicated. I’ll say it again. Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated. And we are very confident that charge — that criminal charge will be dismissed,” Burke told WABC.

A month after the ‘Suit & Tie’ singer faced DWI charges, the case went to court on July 26. JT’s attorney requested dismissal due to the arresting officer’s signing errors.

In another statement to CNN, Burke elaborated on his comments about Timberlake.

“The most important fact to know about this case is that Justin was not intoxicated and should not have been arrested for DWI. The police made a number of very significant errors in this case.”

Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace will review Burke’s motion but requires JT’s re-arraignment on August 2 with proper documents.

The ‘Mirrors’ musician, currently in Europe for his ‘Forget Tomorrow World Tour,’ missed court on Friday but must attend the next hearing virtually on August 2. The court heard the case before Justin’s concert in Kraków, Poland.

Here’s What Happened

As The Shade Room previously reported, Justin Timberlake faced a driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrest on June 18.

According to TMZ, the Sag Harbor Police Department (SHPD) took JT into custody. The outlet reported that prosecutors charged the NSYNC alum with running a stop sign and veering out of his lane.

NBC News stated that JT told police he had consumed “one martini” before his arrest in the Hamptons area of Long Island.

Entertainment Tonight reveals that officers saw Justin with a “glassy-eyed” appearance and smelled alcohol on his breath. They also note that Timberlake failed both the one-legged stand and walk-and-turn sobriety tests. Despite multiple requests, he allegedly refused to take a breathalyzer test.

JT addressed the incident onstage at the United Center in Chicago during his ‘Forget Tomorrow World Tour’ on Friday, June 21. The entertainer appeared emotional while making his first public comments about the DWI.

“We’ve been together through ups and downs and lefts and rights and, uh, it’s been a tough week. But you’re here, and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now. I know sometimes I’m hard to love, but you keep on loving me, and I love you right back. Thank you so much,” JT said in front of a cheering crowd.
