Following accusations that Justin Bieber was trying to stop Roddy Ricch from occupying the number spot on Billboard by repeatedly asking his fans to stream his new single “Yummy”—Justin has taken his loss like a man and congratulated Roddy on his win.
As we previously reported, Roddy Ricch was the favorite to take the number spot on the Billboard Hot 100 courtesy of his single “The Box,” which currently has the most streams in the United States and the predictions were right. Billboard just released its final chart stats and Roddy is at the number one spot with Justin Bieber coming on his heels at number two.
Justin faced heavy online criticism for repeatedly posting on social media for fans to stream “Yummy” to get it to the number one spot, which was thought to be shade to Roddy. He now appears to have taken the high road and posted a message of congratulations for his competition.
Justin posted the following message on Twitter:
“Thanks everyone. So thankful. #yummy. @RoddyRich You had to go and make a banger smh! Haha ur the man!! Love the song!! congrats on your first #1!! Everyone go stream #thebox”
With “Yummy,” this is now Justin Bieber’s 17th Top 10 hit on the Billboard charts. Only time will tell if Roddy Ricch will be able to retain his number one spot or if Justin will rise to the top.
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
