Whew Chile! Jussie Smollett had his day in court, but it looks like he isn’t satisfied with how his case turned out. So much so, Jussie and his legal team have filed a counter-suit against the city of Chicago.
As we previously reported, the city of Chicago filed a lawsuit against Jussie, seeking the money they spent to investigate his alleged attack. Jussie’s attorney’s are firing back, saying Jussie was a victim of a malicious prosecution that cause humiliation and extreme distress.
Back in January, Jussie reported that the was the victim of a violent attack by two men in masks as he was walking home from a Subway sandwich shop. Jussie claimed the attack was racially charged, and motivated by him being gay.
In February, authorities determined that Jussie Smollett was attacked by Abel and Ola Osundairo, who were close with Jussie on the set of ‘Empire’. They were also seen on surveillance video purchasing the items they allegedly used during the attack.
After an intense investigation, prosecutors concluded Jussie had staged the entire attack with the help of the Osundairo brothers. They say Jussie paid the brothers to play a part in the attack. The case was dropped in March, but Jussie maintained his innocence, and let the authorities keep his $10,000 bail.
Shortly after, the city of Chicago hit Jussie with a lawsuit, seeking the hundreds of thousands of dollars they spent to investigate the alleged incident. Jussie was also charged with filing false police report.
Now, Jussie is seeking for the City of Chicago to drop its lawsuit against him claiming the $10,000 he was mandated to pay is enough reimbursement for the city!
What are your thoughts, Roomies? Should Jussie have to pay the city what he owes for the cost of investigating his case? Let us know in the comments!
