Roommates, Nipsey Hussle’s tragic passing has brought about sadness and pain, but it as also brought about change and peace! People around the country have honored him in their own way, and now, Harlem is doing the same!
The village of Harlem has officially declared June 1st ‘Nipsey Hussle Appreciation Day’! Officials gathered to make the announcement in Harlem, surrounded by community members and fans. We’re glad to see Nipsey’s legacy is still making an impact!
It has been two months since Nipsey was gunned down in front of his store in Los Angeles. Since his passing, police have identified Eric Holder as the main suspect in his murder. Holder was officially indicted by a grand jury for the murder of Nipsey, and wounding of two other victims.
The District Attorney charged Holder with four crimes, including premeditated murder. According to reports, the grand jury has indicted Eric on murder, 2 counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Although the masses feel Nipsey was taken too soon, we have seen his fellow rappers come together in significant ways to honor him in his death, and continue to fight for the betterment of the black community. Nipsey stood for love, compassion, and uplifting people of color, and now, people are working every day to ensure the marathon continues!
One of his closest friends, The Game, dedicates an Instagram post to Nipsey daily. He includes stories about the times they spent together, lessons Nipsey taught him, and messages to his followers about empowering one another.
Nipsey now has his own billboards in five locations across Los Angeles, a basketball court in his honor, and many other wonderful dedications and celebrations of his life. We hope that his legacy continues to shine bright, and impact people in the positive way he would have wanted!
