Judge Rules To End Amanda Bynes’ Conservatorship After Nearly Nine Years

Amanda, please! According to multiple reports, actress Amanda Bynes is a free woman! Judge Roger L. Lund ruled today that her conservatorship, overseeing her personal and professional affairs for nearly nine years, is officially over. Court documents stated, “The court determines that the conservatorship is no longer required and that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship of the person no longer exist.”

Although she didn’t attend the brief hearing, Judge Lund congratulated Ms. Bynes and wished her good luck. He also stated, “The conservatorship is no longer needed or required. She has done everything the court has asked.” Amanda has broken her silence and spoken on her victory following the ruling.

Amanda expressed her gratitude in a statement to People via her lawyer, David A. Esquibias. “Following today’s decision by the judge to terminate my conservatorship, I would like to thank my fans for their love and well wishes during this time. I would also like to thank my lawyer and my parents for their support over the last nine years.”

She continued, “In the last several years, I have been working hard to improve my health so that I can live and work independently, and I will continue to prioritize my well-being in this next chapter. I am excited about my upcoming endeavors — including my fragrance line — and look forward to sharing more when I can.”

As we previously reported, Amanda’s parents supported her to end the conservatorship. Reports show her mother Lynn was granted temporary conservatorship over Amanda in August 2013 following a series of concerning behavior. In addition, Lynn gained full conservatorship of her daughter in October 2014. Congrats to Amanda on gaining her independence back!
