JT is finally clearing the air on why she went off on Lil Uzi Vert at the BET Awards this past June. She said the disagreement was about Uzi slacking on his boyfriend duties that night and not about another artist.
She appeared alongside Yung Miami on “The Breakfast Club” this week to talk City Girls’ everything. Near the end of the hour-long interview, JT explained the reason she threw her phone at Uzi and stormed out of the awards show.

The “No Bars” artist said they arrived in separate cars at the event. Uzi performed, and when he got off stage, he wanted to leave immediately. While she was waiting on him, she realized Uzi ended up seated “chilling” with his “friend Bari.”
When she approached them, there wasn’t anywhere for her to sit, and that led to her arguing with and throwing her phone at Uzi.
“You should have made sure I had that seat,” JT said. “It was never about another artist because an artist is supposed to be there. It was about you made sure that Bari was in his seat.”

JT added that Bari also should have got up, and Uzi should’ve “checked” Bari. For the artist, that means her man telling his friend to get up and let his “girl sit down.”
“[Uzi] acting like he drunk and delirious, so I’m gon’ act up in this b***t cause he know how I am, how I can get. But I feel like both of them as men, [Bari] should have got up quick, [Uzi] should have…all of that extra sitting down, like you should’ve got up, you ain’t no rapper.”
JT acknowledged that she saw the reports insinuating that Ice Spice was the reason for the heated moment. However, she noted that once they came back to the audience, Uzi sat in the same spot while she took Bari’s seat.

Afterward, she doubled back to emphasize that Uzi wasn’t on his grown man for a minute that night, and that’s why she snapped at him. However, she clarified that her reaction wasn’t justified.
“I remember him just looking back at me and me just blacking out. And I’m not gon’ lie, I don’t find that sh*t funny. That was not cool, that was me..tripping and I had to live that down and not speak on that for so long.”
She said she didn’t speak on the situation because she didn’t think people would digest her truth. As for her and Uzi, JT said they addressed it in private, and he ultimately agreed with her viewpoint.
