Victory is Mine! Following Johnny Depp winning his defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard, after three days of deliberation, he released a statement on Instagram thanking everyone for the outpour of support! The lengthy message is written in small text, so here’s the rundown, Roomies. The statement reads,
“Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed. All in the blink of an eye.”
He continued, “False, very serious, and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond, and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career.”
The former ‘Pirates of The Caribbean’ star also reflected on his decision to pursue this case, explaining that he knew very well the height of the legal hurdles that he would be facing and the inevitable worldwide spectacle in his life.
As we previously reported, Amber also released a statement on Instagram saying that the disappointment she feels today is beyond words.
“I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband,” she wrote.
Amber even stated that she felt that the verdict was a setback for other women.
While Amber isn’t pleased with the outcome, Johnny sounds happy to clear his name. In addition to that, the jury awarded him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages in his defamation suit. Amber isn’t walking away empty-handed. The jury also awarded her $2 million in compensatory damages.
Roommates, what do you think about the verdict?
