The sequel to the classic film “Coming To America,” will definitely be one for the books. Many actors from the first film have jumped on board to reprise their roles, and also new actors are coming on board to bring the second film to life.
According to Deadline, the legendary John Amos was announced as the latest actor to reprise his role. He will be onboard to reprise his role as Cleo McDowell, the owner of McDowell’s.
For those who are familiar with the original film, you know that Cleo McDowell is the father to Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) love interest Lisa McDowell, who was portrayed by Shari Headley.
According to the synopsis, “Coming to America 2,” will follow “former Prince Akeem who is set to become King of Zamunda when he discovers he has a son he never knew about in America – a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Honoring his father’s dying wish to groom this son as the crowned prince, Akeem and Semmi set off to America.”
Earlier this week, we reported that James Earl Jones has also signed on to reprise his role as King Jaffe Joffer, and Wesly Snipes will be joining the cast as General Izzi, ruler of a nearby African nation to Zamunda.
