After Donald Trump announced that he and Melania tested positive for COVID-19, not only did Joe Biden wish them a “swift recovery”, but he also revealed that he and his wife Jill tested negative for the virus. Now, Joe is speaking openly about the next time he is set to face off in a debate against Trump, and he says it may not be a good idea to do so.
While speaking with reporters, Joe says that he and Trump should not participate in the debate, scheduled for October 15th, due to Trump’s positive coronavirus diagnosis.
“I think if he still has COVID, we shouldn’t have the debate,” Joe said. “We’re going to have to follow very strict guidelines. Too many people have been infected. It’s a very serious problem.”
He added that while he is unsure of Trump’s current status, he hopes that he and the First Lady will follow “all the protocols” to keep the virus from spreading.
Trump’s team, however, is confident that he will make a speedy recovery and that he will be present at the next debate, His campaign spokesman, Tim Murtaugh said in a statement that the debate will go on.
“President Trump will be healthy and will be there,” Murtaugh told POLITICO. “There’s no getting out of this one for Biden and his protectors in the media can’t cover for him.”
As we previously reported, Donnie announced on Twitter that he and Melania tested positive for COVID-19 last week, and has since been transferred to and released from a military hospital. He also returned to the White House and was blasted after the was seen removing his mask to take a photo.
