JetBlue to Become The First Major US Airline To Require Passengers To Wear Face Coverings

Roommates, as the CDC puts out new guidelines to combat the coronavirus pandemic, many businesses are making the shift to require patrons to wear some sort of face covering. And while airlines have been requiring employees to do so, JetBlue is set to become the first major airline to put those guidelines into place for passengers.

According to CNN, JetBlue will require all passengers to wear a face covering of their choice during travel starting on May 4th. Passengers will not only be required to cover their faces while on board aircrafts, but in the airport as well.

“Wearing a face covering isn’t about protecting yourself, it’s about protecting those around you,” said Joanna Geraghty, president and COO of JetBlue. This is the new flying etiquette. Onboard, cabin air is well circulated and cleaned through filters every few minutes but this is a shared space where we have to be considerate of others. We are also asking our customers to follow these CDC guidelines in the airport as well.”

The new policy comes just after the airline began requiring all crew members to wear face coverings while working. American Airlines also announced its flight attendants would be required to wear face masks during every flight starting May 1.

Are y’all taking flights with these new policies, Roomies?
