#Roommates, we all know how quickly Internet rumors and speculation can spread—and often times people still run with the lie even when the truth has been given. However, Jermaine Dupri hopes that his latest truth with stop all the speculation about Usher’s new single before it gets completely out of hand.
Earlier this week, a video of Usher surfaced showing his recent performance at ‘Live from the Cricket Lounge.’ During the performance, he debuted his new single “Confessions III” from his upcoming and highly-anticipated album. As soon as the video dropped, many on social media began to incorrectly speculate that the lyrics were about Usher having herpes.
Despite the fact that the song (specifically Usher’s voice) sounded amazing, the rumor quickly spread—but luckily long-time Usher collaborator Jermaine Dupri stepped in to set the record straight.
In a post on Twitter, Jermaine wrote the following:
“I see ya’ll trippin…CONFESSIONS PART 3 is from a female’s perspective. The song is about a girl cheatin on him and gettin’ pregnant by another man. She is then being stuck with the decision to keep or abort it. Now that he knows, Should he stay or Leave???”
These are the lyrics that Usher sang during his performance, which have nothing to do with herpes:
“Remember that time I was sitting up sick, couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night? / You said bae let me take you to the ER, I said, ‘Nah, Imma be alright / Well the next day I found out from f*cking around that the sickness I had was life / And I was fixed with the decision to keep it, knowing I had to get rid of it, rid of it, live with it.”
Jermaine Dupri and Usher, along with several other collaborators, are still in the studio recording the album. Hopefully, it will be released later this year.
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
