About a month after filing to divorce Jeannie Mai, Jeezy is issuing an official statement on the decision, noting that it comes “with a heavy heart.”

The Rapper Says The Relationship “Holds A Cherished Place” In His Heart
On Thursday (Oct. 19), Jeezy broke his silence on his situation with Jeannie Mai, with whom he shares a daughter named Monaco.
The statement was shared with various outlets and further circulated by Hip Hop journalists like Elliott Wilson. Jeezy started off by declaring, “The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively.”
He also acknowledged that, despite their split, he still has “love and respect for Jeannie.”
“My love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”
After calling Monaco the “best gift from [their] relationship,” Jeezy asked for privacy as the family “focus[es] on healing.”

According to TODAY, Jeezy filed to divorce Jeannie Mai on Sept. 14 after two-and-a-half years of marriage. That very same day, the “Leave You Alone” rapper notoriously hopped on Instagram to share a post captioned, “Too focused on who I’m becoming to focus on who’s not coming with me.” Oop!
As for Jeannie Mai, she broke her silence through an Instagram post on Oct. 11, declaring, “Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect, to heal.”
After sharing this post, Jeannie proceeded to call Monaco her “North Star” during a sit-down with Sherri Shepherd, which The Shade Room exclusively posted ahead of its airing.
Additionally, she noted that she was taking the situation “day by day.”
