Losing anyone prominent in your life, especially your parent, can shake you up. Being vulnerable about that loss is a whole other level of growth. On Sunday, Jeezy took a moment to share his love for his late mother Sharon Denise Jenkins and the pain of the losing her. According to the tombstone shown in the photo he shared, Sharon transitioned out of this life exactly one year ago on January 23.
“When everything gets quiet, I can hear you telling me to keep my foot on they necks. Don’t forget where I came from. What I been through. Turn my pain into power. Turn my wounds into wisdom,” Jeezy wrote.
The sweet note is reminiscent of his post in February 2021, where he revealed he was mourning the loss of his mother. At the time, some of the words he wrote were, “Raised me to be a natural born leader when I was lost. You lifted me when I was down. Inspired me when I had no inspiration. Always told me I was Bigger than my circumstances.”
On Sunday, he spoke about the irony of his birth and her death, while acknowledging her larger than life ways.
“You saw me take my first breath. I saw you take your last,” Jeezy wrote. “I know you are still the life of the party behind those pearly gates.”
And despite the pain of his loss, the artist still found a way to sneak a jokey joke in.
“And tell uncle wade, he still owe me 20 Dollars,” Jeezy wrote. “Tell my big brother Michael I love him. And I hope he’s proud.”
Along with his heartfelt message, Jeezy shared a photo of his mother’s gravesite. Tastefully done, the site features what looks to be a black marble headstone with a reflective plaque beneath it. On the tombstone’s right side, Jeezy sits on a black marble bench. The headstone is surrounded by red, white, cream and purple flowers and topped with a gold and black crown.
“No matter how I say I love you, I’ll always love you more than that. It’s only been a year. But it feels like a lifetime,” Jeezy wrote. “You are forever in my thoughts and my prayers. Rest in paradise Queen”
