Jeezy recently got candid about his life leading up to who he is today. During a sit-down with Nia Long, he explained his early desire to be a married man and revealed how he and Jeannie Mai tried to “save” their marriage.
The “Put On” rapper revealed that he and his estranged wife tried therapy together. Before that reveal, Jeezy clarified that he wanted to keep the “integrity intact” and didn’t want to dishonor Jeannie (though he didn’t name-drop her).
“I can tell you that this has not been an easy journey. I can tell you that I’m saddened, I’m disappointed. I can tell you that I’m uneasy, but again, God has put me on a different path,” he said. “And that path is going to entail for me to take care of myself and to love myself and to be in the best situation that I can thrive as someone who been through all the things I’ve been through.”
Mid-statement, Nia jumped in, saying that feeling is “hard to explain.” Jeezy agreed before adding, “You know I don’t like to fail at anything.” He went on to admit that he can “only be responsible” for himself and do “what [he] can do.”
“I can’t expect something else to do what I’m doing,” Jeezy said.
The ATL artist confirmed — after Nia Long asked — that he and Jeannie Mai had been to therapy together to address their issues.
“So you actually addressed, tried to work through it, tried to do the work, and it just was like not happening?” Nia asked as Jeezy agreed with head nods and verbal confirmations.
Jeezy self-published the entire interview on his YouTube channel on Nov. 7.

One day after Jeezy’s interview went live, Jeannie shared an Instagram post highlighting their infant daughter Monaco.
“My greatest accomplishment in life will be who I raised,” she wrote in the caption.
Jeezy & Jeannie Mai’s Public Statements After Divorce Filing
As previously reported, Jeezy filed for divorce on Sept. 14 in Atlanta. His filing sent fans into a frenzy, given that the week before, Jeannie Mai had dedicated a loving social post to him highlighting his memoir.
By mid-October, Jeannie Mai finally broke her silence on the matter. First, she shared a cryptic social post about taking a break “to heal.” Then, she joined Sherri Shepard on her talk show and revealed that she’s been leaning on God for strength.
“You know, I’m not gonna lie, it takes every day to just really sit and be quiet in your thoughts. Take care of me. But one thing I know is: you give God your pain, he will give you his power. So every day I’m like here. You got room for more? Here’s some more. And just taking it day by day, you know,” Jeannie Mai told Sherri.
She also told the daytime TV host that Monaco was her “north star” during this time.
A few days after Jeannie’s interview aired, Jeezy released a statement about their divorce. He admitted that his divorce decision was not impulsive and added that his “love and respect for Jeannie remains the same.”
Last month, Jeezy also received praise on social media after sharing his experience with depression on ‘The Tamron Hall Show.’
