Many celebs are still sharing some of their own personal Kobe Bryant stories as they continue to remember him after his shocking passing. Jay-Z is the latest celebrity to share a memory of the NBA legend, who was also a good friend.
Earlier this week, Jay-Z participated in a lecture series at Columbia University in New York City, and during the conversation, he opened up about one his final conversations with Kobe after he was asked about his passing.
Jay said, “So Kobe was a guy that looked up to me, and we’ve hung out multiple times, and he was last at my house on New Year’s and he was just in the greatest space that I’ve seen him in. One of the last things he said to me was ‘You gotta’ see Gianna play basketball.’ And that was one of the most hurtful things because he was so proud, and the look on his face…I looked at him and said ‘Oh, she’s going to be one of the best female basketball players in the world.’ So that’s really a tough one and my wife and I took that, and are taking that, really tough.”
He continued to recall how great of a person Kobe was, and that he was in a really great space in his life.
Many people around the world are still having a hard time coping with the shocking passing of Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
On Wednesday, Kobe’s wife Vanessa shared on social media a ceremony that was held at Gianna’s school where her basketball jersey was retired.
Vanessa said, “My Gigi, I love you! I miss you. You’ve taught us all that no act of kindness is ever too small. Mommy is still and will ALWAYS be so proud of you mamacita.”
Roommates, please continue to keep the Bryant family lifted in prayer during this time.
