Kehlani Accuses Javaughn Young-White Of Abuse & Is Granted Restraining Order With Sole Custody
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Kehlani accused her ex and daughter’s father of being “physically, emotionally and verbally” abusive. The singer reportedly alleged Young-White “smashed through her locked bedroom door” in June.
At the time, Young-White was allegedly “living in her back house.” Additionally, Kehlani has accused the father of heavy drug use. Furthermore, one incident reportedly alleges Young-White called the singer a “b***h” and a “liar” and blamed her for their daughter’s birth. The father allegedly added that Adeya Nomi’s birth “ruined” his life and made him feel “trapped.”
In addition to his alleged treatment of Kehlani, the singer accused the father of having unkempt living quarters. The singer reportedly alleged that Nomi often “reek[ed]” of a marijuana smell after spending time with her dad.
TMZ reports that Young-White allegedly left Kehlani’s residence in June. However, the singer “can’t take any more ‘chaos and abuse.'” Furthermore, the outlet reported that a judge granted the singer a temporary restraining order preventing Young-White from being near her or her daughter.
The outlet also adds that Kehlani was reportedly awarded sole custody of the 5-year-old “at least until a hearing next month.” USA Today adds that the hearing will take place on September 3.
The Father Reacts With His Own Abuse Allegations
Hours after TMZ’s report was published, Young-White took to his Instagram Story to share screenshots of text messages apparently exchanged between him and Kehlani in June. In the initial message, Kehlani appears to tell Young-White to call her multiple times.
On June 13, he replies, stating that he “begged” Kehlani to leave him alone. From there, he goes on to accuse the singer of following him into his space and even states, “YOU wanted us to be homeless in the morning.”
Young-White then captioned a second screenshot of messages with, “I cut off contact with her last month because of her abuse and how she alleges abuse when she is scared.”
In the following screenshot, Young-White asserts that Kehlani falsely accused an ex of rape.
“She alleges rape and abuse when she has nothing else to cling to,” Young-White captioned the screenshot.
Ultimately, the father explained that he would address “everything else” later.
“But I want the false accusations of abuse to REST. that is not normal to scream abuse when you don’t know what to do,” he wrote.
Here’s Why The Parents Are Currently At Odds
As The Shade Room previously reported, Young-White and Kehlani initially made headlines earlier this month. At the time, the father reportedly requested full custody of their daughter. Furthermore, his motion reportedly asserted that Kehlani was part of a cult.

The singer reacted to the motion by calling the father’s allegations “untrue,” per The Shade Room. At the time, the singer also stated that they would “let the legal due process take place.”
At that point, Young-White issued a public apology, alleging his previous representation made the cult allegations against Kehlani public despite them never receiving his approval, per The Shade Room.
At the time, however, Young-White did not appear to directly address Kehlani with his apology.
