Javaughn Young-White, the father of Kehlani‘s daughter, Adeya Nomi, is reportedly seeking full custody of the child amid levying cult accusations against the singer.
According to TMZ, Javaughn Young-White has reportedly “filed a paternity petition” for Adeya. The outlet adds that he is reportedly seeking full custody of the 5-year-old.
Furthermore, Young-White’s legal action was reportedly prompted by his belief that the singer has “been mixed up with a cult for the past few years.”
Young-White is alleging that Kehlani has become so involved in the cult and its teachings that it’s negatively impacting how the singer is raising their daughter. Additionally, the father is alleging that Kehlani’s devotion to the cult is conflating their belief that he’s a “threat” to their daughter.
Furthermore, the father alleges that Kehlani has been keeping their daughter away from him.
Editor’s Note: This article has been updated to reflect the following information. On Tuesday (August 6), Javaughn published a statement via social media denying claims that he labeled Kehlani’s alleged spiritual practice of Santeria a “sex cult.” Furthermore, Young-White shared that his custody case filing was “incomplete and did not have [his] authorization by error of counsel.” “There will be an amended filing soon, which will illustrate the full range of my concern. I do not need to paint an unfair image of my co-parent for my justifiable feelings to be represented by the court of law,” his statement read. This is a developing update.
According to the outlet, the pair welcomed Adeya in 2019. PEOPLE reports that Young-White is a guitarist. Essence reports that while appearing on ‘Queen Radio‘ in 2018, Kehlani revealed that they and Young-White had been planning their pregnancy for a while.
Additionally, the singer revealed that Young-White also matched their preference for fluid sexuality.
“I started dating women before I ever dated men. Then I was lucky to find a partner who was a bisexual male,” she said. “And he really understands my queerness and my fluidity, and I really understand his. It’s very awesome to be understood.”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Kehlani recently made headlines after taking a selfie alongside Chris Brown.
Their link-up appeared to spark mixed reactions from those who recalled disparaging words Brown tweeted about the singer in 2016 after she reportedly attempted suicide.
