On Sunday (July 9), TMZ released footage of Jamie sitting on a yacht, cruising along the Chicago River. Jamie wore a short-sleeved black, collared shirt with black slacks and equally-dark shads.
Foxx flashed a smile as cheering fans on a passing boat recorded him. One delighted fan seemingly yelled, “Ahhh, it’s her birthday…this a birthday memory.”
This is the first public-access video of Jamie Foxx since a family statement confirmed he was undergoing medical treatment as of April 11.
“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” the April 12 statement read. “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers, The family asks for privacy during this time.”
Jamie Foxx Seen Boating In Chicago, Same City He Was Reportedly Receiving Treatment In
Jamie cruised in Chicago just a few weeks after TMZ reported he was relocated from Atlanta to Chicago for continued medical treatment. The outlet quoted a source that revealed Foxx arrived at the facility in late April.
His daughters, Corinne and Anelise, were photographed in Chicago on Mother’s Day weekend–presumably visiting their dad.
Days before, Corinne shut down social media rumors that Jamie’s health was failing. She said Jamie Foxx had been out of the hospital “for weeks recuperating.”
“In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday,” Corienne wrote at the time. “Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support! We have an exciting work announcement coming next week too!”
At the top of May, fans first heard from Jamie via his Instagram Story. He kept his message brief, writing, “appreciate all the love, feeling blessed.” However, Sunday’s boat ride video is the first physical evidence of the actor’s recovery journey.
Looking ahead, Jamie Foxx and daughter Corinne are set to co-host a family game show called We Are Family in 2024. Variety reports that it will feature “non-famous relatives of celebrities performing diets with their hidden famous family member” on Fox.
