In the past there was an attempt to release a biopic on the legendary singer Marvin Gaye, however the film never made it to the screen without his family’s blessing.
Now a new series about the singer has come about, and this one definitely has the blessing from the late singer’s family.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Foxx will be executive producing a limited series about Marvin Gaye’s life along with de Passe Jones Entertainment’s Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones.
Also a part of the project as an executive producer is Marvin Gaye’s son, Marvin Gaye III. He said, “This project will be a powerful and definitive telling of Marvin Gaye’s life story.”
Marvin Gaye released his first studio album in 1961, and went on to make classics such as “What’s Going On,” “Sexual Healing,” and “Let’s Get It On.”
Jamie Foxx also talked about his involvement with the project, I’ve been a huge fan my whole life, his brilliance in music unparalleled. Marvin Gaye’s story has always fascinated me.”
Another person to give their blessing for the project is Berry Gordy who said, “Marvin was the truest artist I have ever known. I am confident that this is the right team to bring his story to the audience in an authentic and compelling way.”
Marvin Gaye died at the age of 44 after being killed by his father following an altercation back in 1984.
