Jamie Foxx has made his first public appearance since being hospitalized earlier this year. Additionally, the 55-year-old actor is reflecting on the experience with an emotional speech.
According to CNN, Foxx surprised fans by appearing at the Critics Choice Association‘s Celebration of Cinema and Television: Honoring Black, Latino, and AAPI Achievements on Monday, December 4.
The 55-year-old was honored with the Vanguard Award for his performance in the 2023 thriller and drama, ‘The Burial.’
The outlet reports that Foxx received a standing ovation as he walked on stage. From there, the actor thanked the audience and explained that he’s “been through some things.”
“You know, it’s crazy; I couldn’t do that six months ago. I couldn’t actually walk,” Foxx told the crowd, getting emotional.
The 55-year-old went on to humorously deny rumors he’s been “cloned” before pivoting back to his health scare.
“It feels good to be here,” Foxx explained. “I cherish every single minute now; it’s different. You know, it’s beyond — I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy ’cause it’s tough when it’s almost over…”
Foxx went on to joke that he “saw the tunnel” but “didn’t see the light.”

As The Shade Room previously reported, in April, news surfaced that Foxx experienced a “medical complication.” A month later, it was revealed that the actor was receiving treatment in a physical rehabilitation center in Chicago.
At the time, TMZ reported that the center was “touted as the top physical medicine and rehabilitation center in the country.” Additionally, the outlet noted that it remained unclear “what happened to Jamie or why” he was there.
Furthermore, TMZ noted that the center specializes in “cancer rehabilitation, stroke recovery, spinal cord injury rehab, and traumatic brain injury rehab.”
Up until this point, Foxx has not disclosed what his medical complication was. However, he has publicly thanked his family for their support.
