Jada Pinkett Smith is sharing an update regarding the state of her marriage with Will Smith. As The Shade Room previously reported, the 52-year-old revealed last week that she and Will have been separated since 2016.
Smith’s revelation arrived amid her also explaining that comedian Chris Rock asked her out on a date years back and her sharing more insight into her friendship with the late Tupac Shakur.
On Sunday, Will Smith shared a humorous video, seemingly in response to his wife’s public revelations. Additionally, the 55-year-old father of three also shared an exclusive statement regarding his wife with the New York Times.
Jada Pinkett Smith sat down for an exclusive follow-up interview with TODAY’s Hoda Kotb on Monday. During the segment, Smith reflected on publicly revealing the state of her marriage with Will Smith during their previous interview.
Additionally, the actress affirmed that she feels like she “made the right choice.”
“Absolutely… at some point, I had to talk about my journey,” Smith explained. “I think there’s so many of us who hold so much — specifically women and feeling like we’re going to be criticized, we’re going to be judged. And you can’t say anything…”
Smith explained that her public revelations have brought her and her husband “closer.”
“And the beautiful part about it is like this whole journey, as difficult as it’s been, has just brought Will and I closer in such an authentic way,” Smith continued. “Instead of trying to be a thing, it’s just tearing all that down and finding what’s true between us… And it’s been difficult but beautiful.”
The 52-year-old explained that she and her husband kept their separation private to give themselves “time” to “figure out what we wanted.”
“We were… in this very fragile place, and so now, we’re just super solid. And so now I can actually talk about what the journey has been.”
Ultimately, Smith explained that she and Will will not be finding “another great love.” Instead, they are in a “deep healing space” and are “working hard” on “healing” their “relationship” and “life partnership.”
On Saturday, Will Smith broke his silence amid his wife’s recent revelations with an exclusive statement to the New York Times. In the statement, Smith explained his “emotional blindness” toward his wife. Additionally, he also highlighted her “hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”
“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” the 55-year-old explained.
Then, on Sunday, Smith shared a humorous video that also seemed to respond to him and his wife taking over the recent headlines. The 55-year-old captioned the clip, “Notifications off :).”
The video showed Smith taking a nap on a boat, trailblazing the sea as his phone notifications went wild. As Smith awakes, the clip shows him shaking his head while looking at the camera, almost in disbelief.
Social media users appeared to love Smith’s subtle response and stepped into The Shade Room’s comment section to share their thoughts.
“Will funny as hell😂😂😂😂 That’s my Libra uncle ♎️🤞🏾”
“That dnd life is so peaceful.”
“I don’t blame him cause I know his phone is blowing up right now”
“I love his unbothered spirit!!!! Like nothing happened at all this past week. 😂”
Additionally, we should also note that Jada Pinkett Smith also found her husband’s video humorous as well, even leaving behind her own comment under his upload.
