R&B newcomer Jacquees has made headlines over the past year due to his incessant claims that he’s the “King of R&B.” Apparently, he’s had a bit of a change of heart because he’s now giving the title to two of his biggest influences, Chris Brown and Trey Songz.
Jacquees has left many scratching their heads with his boisterous “King of R&B” claims that have even spilled over into a recent beef with fellow R&B newbie YK Osiris. Although, based on a recent Instagram post, he has decided to acknowledge those who came before him—specifically Chris Brown and Trey Songz.
In a sentimental IG post, Jacquees wrote:
“Thank you to the Kings of R&b who I looked up to the most to believe I can really do it! #1 #Chris brown ( Did so much me for me and my career, I been down wit C breezy since I was 18 use to be wit him everyday just learning! I appreciate bro and love you! #2 #TreySongz Big bro Trey been riding wit me since I was bout 20-21! The love been genuine and real always in my corner I appreciate y’all boyz 4L, Love y’all !”
Throughout the past few days, Jacquees has not only been showing love to Breezy and Trey, but also paying homage to R&B legends who have paved the way, such as James Brown, Prince, Usher, Boyz II Men, Ginuwine and more.
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
