New details have reportedly emerged regarding Jacquees’ arrest in Atlanta this past weekend. According to HipHopDX, the singer was arrested for simple battery and obstruction of law enforcement.
According to the outlet, the singer, whose government name is Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, was booked into Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, June 23.
Additionally, the singer was reportedly released after posting a $40 cash bond seven hours after his arrest.
The charges associated with Jacquees’ arrest are reportedly both “misdemeanors in the state of Georgia.”
According to WSBTV, the 29-year-old was seen being “loud and boisterous” at the Mall of Georgia on Friday. Additionally, the artist was also seen “drunk and fighting with security.”
While Jacquees was present at the mall, he also allegedly “choked” and “bit” a female mall employee on her hand.
After police located the singer in the mall’s parking lot, he reportedly tried to flee in his Ferarri. However, he was stopped by officers who used a “stun gun” on the singer.
According to the outlet, the singer’s relationship with the alleged female victim remains unclear.
In addition to the details of his arrest, the R&B singer’s mugshot also surfaced on the internet. Social media users quickly reacted to Jacquees’ appearance in the shot, which showed him with a busted lip and “blackened eye.”
Furthermore, the singer also attended a performance later that night, donning a ski mask and sunglasses.
This also left social media users sharing their thoughts in The Shade Room’s Instagram comments.
“Looks like he’s the victim 😩 Did you at least pinch the person?”
“The lip swollen thru the shiesty is sending me 😭😭😭”
“Simple battery damn it looks like he’s the one that simply got battered”
“Man I hate what we as a race have become. This brother could’ve been beaten by the police and instead of checking on the story and seeing what happened we would rather make jokes smh that’s exactly why other races treat us less than bc we don’t stand together unless it’s to be destructive”
On Saturday, June 24, the singer returned to Twitter with a brief emoji message.
Then, on Sunday, the singer shared a selfie showing off a healed face.
A few hours later, Jacquees shared a message of encouragement.
“Can’t nobody stop what God got for you.”
Then, a few cryptic words in the early hours of Monday morning.
“You gotta go through some s**t sometimes to see who really wit you”
