Issa Rae will soon step into the role of award show host for the 2018 CFDA Fashion Awards.
The writer/actress announced her new gig on Monday and said, “So excited to announce that I will be hosting the 2018 CFDA Fashion Awards on June 4th. Mark your calendars!”
According to Essence, Rae will be the first female to host the award show in almost ten years. Last year, Seth Meyers hosted the show, but now we can expect Issa to bring her humor and amazing fashion sense to the stage.
CFDA president and CEO Steven Kolb said in a statement, “Issa Rae is leading a new generation of performers who use their voice and humor to discuss social topics in a way that is relatable and poignant.”
Celebs such as Rihanna and Janelle Monae have been honored at previous award shows, as well as some of fashions top designers.
The 2018 honorees will be announced on March 15th, and the show will take place at the Brooklyn Museum on June 4th.
